Blog subscription test repeated

Lawrence_Avenue

Lawrence Avenue

You’re receiving this test because you’ve subscribed to the blog about my old neighborhood, Hollywood Park, and the surrounding neighborhoods from Albany Park to Peterson Park.

Last week I sent out a test to see if the new service for blog subscriptions was working. It wasn’t, so I’m trying this again. In the past I used feedburner to allow readers to receive the blogposts by email.  Google is no longer providing support for feedback, so I’ve switched over to Mail Chimp to provide email subscriptions of my blogposts.

As before, you can opt out of subscribing at any time.  And hopefully this will be the final test.

Hi, Barbara! So nice to hear from you. Will always keep you posted! You would have enjoyed the gathering at Max and Benny’s a few weeks ago.

Hi, Larry. Thanks for stopping by. I don’t have any information on your reunion, but if anyone does, please send a note and I can post it on the Von Steuben Alumni Association website too.

I was in that von steuben graduating class of jan. 1965….I remember Ira Baygood and his cousin Chuck….his mother |Muriel and his grandmother Mrs, Paradise … His father Bernie was wine steward at the old Chez Paree night club…he lived on the 5800 block of north Drake… I sure would be interested in our 50th reunion information… please forward this to me at your convenience….

Hi, Ira. That was a really small class. Bryn Mawr has changed. The other long time business is Biltmore Cleaners on the north side, next to the gas station that was Milt and Morrie’s Shell. Thanks for stopping by.

Was working in the neighborhood last year, and the once thriving Bryn Mawr area had changed. All that I remember was Davis Imperial Cleaners…BTW, I just received an e-mail about a January 1965 class reunion…I believe we had only 75 graduates..

Hi, Ben. Looks like everyone got the blog, so we’re in business. I owe you a call — it’s been one thing after another. When my daughter goes away to sleep away camp, I’ll catch up with my blog.

Rosie, thank you! Of course, I’ve learned that people who grew up in many different neighborhoods in Chicago all have similar memories … the corner candy store, lighted school house, clubs, etc. Hope all is well.

Every time I see a picture of Lawrence Avenue back in the days, it is like returning home again. Since I now live in Florida and have not been back to Chicago in many years, it really feels good. Thanks for the post and keep them coming!
