Several times during the year the Lil Gents meet for breakfast or dinner and once a year we have a Lil Gents weekend with a Friday night dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner and an all-day picnic Sunday for family and friends. We take great pride that we have been together all these years and have great affection for each other.
Around 1954 we tried to anoint a group of junior club members. After the parents of the proposed younger club members met with the principals of Von Steuben and Roosevelt high schools and Peterson and Hibbard and several other grammar schools, and the Chicago Police Department, we were asked to discontinue the club name. They were afraid the new, younger boys would want to live up to our reputation.
We were never trouble makers, just a group unafraid to push back when pushed. In retrospect, we were good role models for the most part. Some stories about us while we were in high school were exaggerated, though some stories were true. We were and are fun-loving people who loved one another and stuck by each other. We bonded as young boys and became successful men.

Allan, I checked with Howard, and yes, Jerry and Howard are brothers. Were you in the same class?
Is Howard Glantz related to the Jerry Glantz I went to school with?
I agree with you! After being on a social committee with the Little Gentlemen, and dating one of your friends, I found no reason to believe the exaggerated reputation that the club had. The guys were respectful and easy to be with. I was never concerned about my safety when with any of the fellows in your club.
